Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 21, 2026

This work asks people to be honest about mortality, grief, and fear - some of the most personal terrain there is. We take what you share with us seriously, and we want you to know exactly what we do with it.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it when you use our website or enroll in our programs. By using our website or submitting your personal information, you consent to the terms set out here, which comply with all applicable law, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

1. Consent

By submitting personal information to us or any of our service providers, you agree to its collection, use, and disclosure in accordance with this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at hello@sacreddeathcollective.com. If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to continue delivering certain services to you.

2. Data Controller

Email: hello@sacreddeathcollective.com
Data Protection Officers: Carla Rubí Caellas & Frederick Max Billyard

3. What We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

Account and payment information: name, email, billing address, and payment details, processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card details.

Onboarding responses: what you share about your reasons for joining, your relationship to mortality and grief, and related personal reflections, collected via our onboarding form.

Communications: emails, messages, and any other contact between you and SDC.

Website usage data: collected via cookies and analytics tools when you visit our website.

4. Sensitive Personal Data

Some onboarding responses may include details about grief, health, or personal loss. Under GDPR, this constitutes special category data. We collect it only with your explicit consent, given at the point you submit the onboarding form. Access is limited to Carla, Fred, and any core team members directly involved in delivering the course. We use it solely to prepare for and personalise your experience in the program.

5. Why We Use Your Information

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

To deliver and administer the course and any associated programs.

To personalise your experience and our communications with you.

To respond to your requests for information.

To understand whether you are suited to participate in our activities and events.

To send relevant news and updates about SDC programs and events.

With your separate, explicit consent only: to use anonymised excerpts of your reflections in our content or community storytelling. This consent is always opt-in and never required to participate in the program.

6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Your consent, for sensitive personal data and any marketing or storytelling use.

Performance of a contract, to deliver the course or program you have purchased.

Legitimate interest, for basic website analytics and operating SDC as a business, provided this does not override your privacy rights.

Legal obligation, where applicable law requires us to retain or process certain information.

7. Third Parties We Work With

We may share your information with the following service providers, solely as needed to operate SDC:

Payment processors

Email service providers

Video hosting platforms

Google Forms

Google Analytics — https://policies.google.com/privacy

Google Drive — https://policies.google.com/privacy

Mailchimp — https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

Instagram — https://instagram.com/about/legal/privacy/

We do not sell or license your personal information to any third party.

8. Website Analytics

Our website uses analytics tools to collect anonymised data about visitor behaviour — where and when people visit, how long they stay, and general patterns of use. This helps us improve our website. We receive only anonymised, aggregated data and do not identify you personally through these tools. IP information is collected for website and server security.

9. International Transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where this applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, as required by GDPR.

10. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your personal data for as long as needed to deliver the program and meet our legal obligations, including tax records. Sensitive onboarding data is reviewed periodically and deleted once it is no longer needed for the purpose for which you provided it. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.

11. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:

Access: to confirm whether we hold your personal data and to obtain a copy of it.

Rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected.

Erasure: to request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Objection: to object to the processing of your personal data.

Restriction: to request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.

Portability: to receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format and have it transferred to another controller.

Consent withdrawal: to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@sacreddeathcollective.com. Your request should specify the right you wish to exercise. This service is free of charge. If you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Cookies

Our website uses cookies for basic functionality and analytics. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

13. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and while we take this seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Children

SDC programs are intended for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you must not provide us with personal information without the consent of a parent or guardian, or as otherwise required by applicable law.

15. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of our website or services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. The date of the most recent revision is noted below.
